On 26 August 2017, our lives were forever altered when, our granddaughter, Aspen Jayne, entered the world. For 233 days we were able to hold and love her here on earth. On 15 April 2018, Aspen was unexpectedly called home to heaven and is now safe in the arms of Jesus. Until we are reunited with Aspen in heaven, we want to honor her precious life on earth.
In Aspen’s memory, we will be supporting the ongoing efforts of Imani Milele Children to resuce, educate, develop and improve the lives of some of Uganda’s orphaned and most vulnerable children. We have spoken in person with Pastor Moses, founder/president of Imani Milele, and his wife Madame Hopkins, dean of students; we have met the dedicated staff and visited all of Imani’s eight educational centers in Uganda. We are beyond impressed by the Imani ministry and the love they have for these children.
Approximately 5,000 children are currently being educated and some housed on Imani Milele Campuses, but there is a great need for additional facilities. The need is especially great at the Troas campus, where our sponsor children are from. The Troas campus is located in the Jinja region region of Uganda and is the educational center for nearly 700 Imani Milele students.
In the fall of 2018, we began raising funds to meet the needs at Troas. In January 2019, construction began on the first two buildings in the classroom block, and on 29 July 2019 the first seven classrooms were officially opened, complete with brand new furnshings, electricity and water harvesting tanks. Since then, a new boys' bathroom, a new girl's bathroom and on-campus housing for four of our teachers and their families have been constructed. In January 2021, construction on an on-campus girls' home will begin, and we have begun raising funds for an on-campus boy's home.
We still have a long way to go to meet the needs at this campus. As we continue to raise funds, those funds will be used to build additional classroom buildings, purchase a water filtration system, more teacher housing, a kitchen, a multi-purpose room, a sick bay, an administration building, and a security fence.
With your help, we would like to continue to bless the students and staff at Imani Milele’s Troas campus. Will you please join us in honoring Aspen's precious life, while changing the lives of some other precious children?

Giving to others what we can no longer give to her: hope, love and education.
