Faridah was born in a family of five children and she is the second born.  She has two sisters and two brothers.  Her parents are separated. Her father moved on and married another woman with whom he now has three children.  Faridah and her siblings remained with their mother who relies on the few food crops she grows to sustain her family.  In spite of all challenges and financial difficulties, Faridah always emerges as one of the best students in her class.  Her perseverance and determination continue surprising her family and teachers.  She is very much focused on becoming a nurse but that can only happen if her education is supported.
