Gladys is born in a family of seven children; five girls and two boys her being the third born. She has never experienced any parental love in her life. Her father was an alcoholic who at one time drunk too much and died. She and her siblings remained with their mother who abandoned them and ran off with another man who she got married to. She cares less about her children and only concentrates on the new family she got. Gladys now stays with her grandmother who took her in and tries to provide for her. Regardless of how much she tries, she still fails because she is too old and weak to do heavy work. Gladys urgent need is tuition so that she can go through with school.
