Harriet, the first born in her family has 2 brothers and 1 sister.  She and her siblings stay with both their parents in a small temporary house; made of mud and bamboo.  They carryout peasantry farming on a rented piece of land.  They grow crops like corn, beans and potatoes. There has been too much sunshine lately which has destroyed the crops.  This makes the harvest little yet it is shared with the owner of the land.  The remainder is always little and it is used as food.  Harriet often nose bleeds and she also has a problem with her spleen.  Because of lack of money, her parents haven’t been able to take her to the hospital.  The parents also find difficulty in paying for the children’s tuition.
