Irene is the third born with one sister and six brothers. Her family lives in a rural and poor community in Central Uganda, about 20 miles from the Nile River. Like most of the people in this community, Irene's parents are unemployed and find a lot of difficulty in providing Irene with tuition, health care and sometimes clothes. They grow crops in their garden using hand hoes to feed their children. Irene longs to finish school to become a nurse but her parents have many times failed to pay for her education. For that reason, Irene was put on the Imani Milele Child Sponsorship program where her education has been supported. Being in high school calls for more tuition and more school supplies. Sponsoring Irene in school will help to pay for her tuition and enable her to reach her goal.
