Joan is the fifth born in her family of six girls. Her parents are both unemployed. They own a small piece of property where they grow crops mainly for food. They live in a two roomed house made of mud and bamboo. They don’t have access to clean water, beddings and good medication. Joan’s father struggles to provide for the children especially, tuition, medical care and clothing. If given the chance to stay in school, Joan will work for a better future.
