Losing his father at a very tender age still affects Lawrence up to now because he didnt get much time to spend with him. This tortures Lawrence so much when most of his friends talk about their parents and he cant say much about his father. Lawrence, the tenth born in his family, his six brothers and three sisters remained with their poor mother who struggles to support them. She finds it very challenging because she is just a peasant who grows a few crops.
