Mercy is 8^th and last born having 2 sisters and 5 brothers. She has grown up with her parents and siblings in a very remote and poor community of Lagut- Gulu in the Northern part of Uganda, a region that had for a long time been affected by a civil war that had started way back in 1986 to 2002. Her community has no access to electricity, running water, good health services and good roads. Her family is so poor that they all live in a small mud hut with the kids sleeping on the dirt floor. They aren’t able to meet Mercy’s education needs which puts Mercy’s future at the risk of living the same kind of life they are currently living. Mercy loves school so much that she has to walk close to 2 miles to school but she’s sometimes forced to stay home on school days due to lack of tuition and school supplies.
