Nelson is born in a family of eight children, six boys and two girls. He is the eighth born. His father abandoned the family to the poor and jobless mother. He ran away with another woman whom he married and currently has a child with. He is not concerned about Nelson and his siblings. The responsibility of providing for all the children’s needs lies on Doreen, Nelson’s mom. All she manages to do is feed her children with the crops she grows in their backyard. Nelson is one of many children with no tuition and school supplies yet he loves school. His good performance in class can become better if he attends school regularly.
