Thomas is the first born in his family. He has 2 sisters but without a brother. His father is a pastor at a local church in Lagut- Gulu, a remote community in the northern part of Uganda. The parents are so poor and unemployed. All they do is grow crops in their small garden using hand hoes so they can raise food to feed their children. Thomas attends school on an irregular basis because his tuition is always not paid since his parents can hardly provide even the basic needs of their children. Thomas is a bright boy who loves and shows great care for other children at school especially at school. His desire is to be able to attend school and attain an education which is the only way he can live an improved life different from the life he and his family are living.
