William comes from a family of four children. He has two brothers and one sister and he is the first born. He comes from a very remote area in Buikwe, Eastern Uganda. While he was still in his family before Imani Milele took him in, he would wake up at 5am to go to the farm and clean the cow’s drinking vessels and to milk them. He could walk 2 miles to collect water for the animals, and then walk 4 miles to school. He would do the same in the evening. Though he could do all this to enhance the family’s income, earning was too low to provide for his tuition for all the school-going children, medication, food and clothing. William could not attend school regularly because his tuition was either not paid or paid late. Imani Milele, through the sponsorship program, has enabled him to stay in school since 2008. William’s dream is to become a computer programmer.
