Daniel is a third born of two boys and one girl. His parents separated when Daniel was still young. Daniel’s mother is married to another man whereas the father’s whereabouts are not known. He now lives with his maternal grandmother who is a peasant. She is old with back problems. The poor grandmother struggles so hard with the grandchildren. Providing for their basic needs is a big challenge to her. Daniel is a hard working boy and helps the grandmother to work in the garden, collect water from the well among other chores.
